The words clearly didn’t change, but their contextual relationship to you, the reader, did.
Each word alters the meaning of what came before it.

By the time you reached the end, the beginning belonged to a context that did not yet exist when you first encountered it. Context, on this view, is not simply background information surrounding a thing. It participates in what that thing can mean, and perhaps in what it can become for us.

That question has followed me from environmental philosophy to the philosophy of science, shaping both my metaphysics and my teaching. More recently, I have become interested in what it might contribute to questions about education and AI, particularly when systems summarise, select and reorganise the contexts through which people encounter information.
